State Implementation and Classification
Description
To provide an accredited entry level training program in the Retail Hardware
industry that leads to an award of an industry recognised credential.
To train people to the hardware industry’s National Competency Standards at
Levels 1 and 2.
To provide training and skills development in areas such as oral and written
communication, personal organisation, team work, selling techniques, stock
management, customer relations, point of sales procedures and merchandising.
To combine practical training in a structured work environment with skills and
theoretical training in the off-the-job component.

3 Registered providers need to obtain copyright permission from the
Hardware Association of Western Australia through the Hardware Industry Working
Group.
4 Through the RPL process and through transfers, trainees may apply for
credit for retail award courses offered by TAFE. The training plan details
National and Retail modules aligned to this traineeship program.
