State Implementation and Classification
Description
To provide the knowledge and skills required for a student to gain employment
in an industry where Metal and Engineering skills are used.
To provide knowledge and skills that articulate with recognised apprenticeship
and production process courses in the Metal and Engineering area.
To provide a range of transferable skills that will allow a student to access
employment or further vocational education and training opportunities in areas
other than Metals and Engineering.

specific work experience (Real Work Program) as a part of this award.
87520 Work Experience (Metals and Engineering) requires at least 144 hours of
work experience (which includes the 36 hours of coordination) in a specific
industry, incorporating the knowledge and skills developed in the course. This
work experience will require an on-the-job log book, to be completed as
evidence of the learner’s achievement and should be assessed in the workplace.
87520 Work Experience (Metals and Engineering) does not require delivery
resourcing except for 36 hours of co-ordination and placement administration.
2 CREDIT TRANSFER
Upon successful completion of the technical training section of this course,
the learner will be credited with the relevant modules in the Engineering
Tradesperson (Fabrication, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic) and/or the
Certificate of Production Engineering.
3 CERTIFICATE OF PRE-VOCATIONAL STUDIES METALS AND ENGINEERING (STAGE 2)
To be eligible for the award of Certificate of Pre-Vocational Studies Metals
and Engineering (Stage 2) the learner must reach a pass standard or competence
in all modules of the course including the completion of the work experience
component.
