Description
This is the first level of the Access courses. This course aims to develop skills in English listening, speaking, writing and reading for participants from language backgrounds other than English. The four levels in the Access stream provide a clear pathway for a wide range of learners who want to develop general English language and literacy skills, and knowledge to effectively participate in the Australian community

To achieve 1651 Certificate I in ESL (Access) - 21936VIC, a total of 8 units of competency must be completed. This comprises:
- 1 core unit
- 1 speaking and listening unit
- 1 reading and writing unit
- 2 language skills elective units (see course outline)
