Description
To provide the student with technical training
equivalent to 1A, 1B and 2A of the TAFE segment of
the apprenticeship course for Automotive Electrical
Fitting.
To enhance skill development in all aspects of the trade enabling the student
to equal the level of training of an industrial apprentice who has completed
one year of an apprenticeship.

1 REMEDIAL ACTION
The primary responsibility for initiating remedial
action necessary in the areas of technical training
related trade subjects and educational subjects
rests with the individual lecturer.
Individual students with substantial literacy and
numeracy difficulties may have the time spent on any
subject, other than technical training, reduced by
up to 72 hours (2 hours x 36 weeks) to allow him/her
to attend a suitable course of study.
2 ACCREDITATION
On successful completion of the technical training
section of the course, the student shall be credited
with subjects 1A, 1B and 2A of the Automotive
Electrical apprenticeship.
3 SUPPLEMENTARY PRACTICAL SKILLS
Factory and on-site visits should be undertaken when
available and relevant. On-site and on-campus real
work to be undertaken when relevant work available.
Where sufficient "Work Experience" is available
external to the college programme to enable the
student to reach the standard of a first year
apprentice, then up to 2 hours per week of
Supplementary Practical Skills may be utilized on
the enrichment subjects 13-015 Automotive Science
(Mechanical) and 13-016 Automotive Science
(Electrical) at the college and local industry
discretion.
4 CERTIFICATE OF PRE-APPRENTICESHIP STUDIES
To be eligible for the Certificate of
Pre-Apprenticeship Studies the student must gain a
pass standard in each subject of the certificate.
5 NEW APPRENTICE TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT SCHEME
For an apprentice to be eligible for a
DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING TRADE
CERTIFICATE, the apprentice must have achieved
the competencies as determined by the rules of the
appropriate Trade Training Schedule (TTS).
Achievement of College listed competencies for each
apprentice, as listed in the TTS, is to be recorded
on the appropriate Trade Training Schedule
Assessment forms.
The Division of Industrial Training (DIT) will
require a completed College assessment report at the
conclusion of the apprentice's College training.
This report is to be forwarded to DIT prior to the
close of College business in the year of completion.
6 The duration of the subjects 98002 and 98003 is 216 hours each in this
course.
