State Implementation and Classification
Description
The Diploma of Teacher Assistant has been developed to provide students with competencies to enable them to work in a variety of settings within the school environment.
On completion of the Certificate, the student will have developed a range of knowledge and skills including:
- Assist in the management of referred student(s) behaviour
- Support the rights and safety of children within duty of care requirements
- Foster and enhance children’s social, emotional and psychological development
- Foster and enhance children’s cognitive and language development
- Plan the inclusion of children with additional needs
- Foster and enhance children’s development
- Establish and implement plans for developing responsible behaviour
- Design, implement and evaluate programs of the service
- Develop and implement procedures to enable young people to address their needs
- Support youth programs
- Provide appropriate services for young people
- Conduct a program for children and young people with special needs
