State Implementation and Classification
Description
To provide the student with technical training equivalent to 1A, 1B and 2A of
the TAFE segment of the apprenticeship course in upholstery.
To enhance skill development in all aspects of the trade enabling the student
to equal the level of training of an industrial apprentice who has completed
two years of an apprenticeship.
To provide training and skills in related areas which may be advantageous in
gaining employment within the furniture trade.

VET Info Notes
The responsibility for remedial action necessary in the areas of technical
training, related trade and educational subjects rests with individual
lecturers and course co-ordinator.
2 ACCREDITATION
On successful completion of the technical training section of the course, the
student will be credited with subjects 1A, 1B and 2A of the Upholstery
apprenticeship course.
3 SUPPLEMENTARY PRACTICAL SKILLS
Factory visits should be undertaken when available. Suitable on-site and
on-campus real work to be undertaken when available.
4 CERTIFICATE OF PRE-APPRENTICESHIP STUDIES
To be eligible for this award, the student must reach a pass standard in all
subjects in this
course.
5 NEW APPRENTICE TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT SCHEME (NATAS)
For an apprentice to be eligible for a DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING
TRADE CERTIFICATE, the apprentice must have achieved the competencies as
determined by the rules of the appropriate Trade Training Schedule (TTS).
Achievement of College-listed competencies for each apprentice, as listed in
the TTS, is to be recorded on the appropriate Trade Training Schedule
Assessment forms.
The Division of Industrial Training (DIT) will require a completed College
assessment report at the conclusion of the apprentice's College training.
This report is to be forwarded to DIT prior to the close of College business in
the year of completion to obtain a pass standard in all subjects.
