Description
The Certificate IV of Information Systems is the first year of the Diploma of Information Systems and designed to provide an industry relevant level of training in Information Systems and Information Technology suitable for graduates to be employed in a variety of roles in the Information Technology industry.
Two streams are offered that will allow the learner to specialise in:
- Application Development: Targeted jobs include - Junior
Programmer and Application Developer
- Technical and User Support: Targeted jobs include - Assistant Help
Desk, PC Support, Network Support and Computer Sales Officer
In addition to the relevant technical subjects, all learners will complete important interpersonal skills modules, eg. Presenting Information, Report Writing. Graduates will be able to plan and manage their work tasks under guidance and should be able to work effectively in teams. They will be able to provide assistance to others, eg. for software applications.

1. CORE
This course divides into two streams. Learners will be required to complete one of the following: a) Core modules AND Technical Stream modules AND Electives as stated OR b) Core modules AND Software Stream modules AND Electives as stated. NOTE: Learners who have successfully completed Certificate III of Information Technology or Certificate III of Software Applications, Hardware and Network Fundamentals and enrol in the Diploma will have to complete 120 hours of Maths modules (listed after the Core modules) in addition to the Core modules, Stream modules and Electives, unless they can provide evidence of a minimum "C" grade in an SEA accredited Maths subject at Year 12 level. 6. ELECTIVES
Select a minimum of 80 hours from: a) the modules listed in Group 1 OR b) other modules within the National Information Technology Curriculum or locally accredited Information Technology modules, provided they are designated at ASF Level 4 or above. The 80 hours may also include 50 hours from the Language Electives in Group 2 OR c) subjects within an articulation path to a University course as approved by Central Metropolitan College of TAFE.
