The content of the course consists of theory modules and practical modules. The theory modules provide knowledge that is essential for understanding the physiology of the eye; the effects of light and prism on lens design, and the principles that underpin quality practice and standards in lens and frame design. The practical modules develop skills in fitting and edging and bring knowledge and skills together in the holistic environment of an operating optical dispensary: meeting customer needs, interpreting prescriptions, solving common frame and lens problems and referring clients as required.
