Description
To provide a thorough background to physical and
geometric optics and an introduction to spectacle
lens theory.
To give instruction and practical work in optical
workshop technology which emphasises the fabrication
and repair of spectacles.
To emphasise the human aspects of the dispenser's
work with instruction in communications techniques,
the function of the body, the structure of the eye,
practical aspects of optical fitting and
measurement, patient management and problem-solving.
To introduce aspects of retail marketing and small
business management as applied to an optical
establishment.
