To provide students with a theoretical framework for understanding the changing
processes of library and information provision.

1 An essay of approximately 2000 words on one of the following topics:
toy libraries; library services to the disadvantaged; information consultants.
Assessment will be based on the student's
demonstrated ability to define and develop their
topic; select appropriate sources of information;
logically develop their thesis; correctly quote
and cite references (Objectives 1.5 - 1.7). 20%
2 Given an important document on library services in Australia, the
student will describe how the information was collected, provide a summary of
the document and its recommendations if appropriate, and discuss the impact of
the document on the provision of library services in Australia (Objective
4.2).
This assignment will involve an oral and written
presentation. 20%

One three hour examination.
