To provide learners with:

Module 15: Safe Work on Roofs

- An ability to detail the occupational health and safety regulations
and code of practice requirements inherent in working on roofs.
- A detailed knowledge of the planning and preparation required prior to
commencing work on a roof.
- An ability to describe the various types of roofs commonly encountered
in the workplace and list characteristics of individual roof types.
- A detailed knowledge of the work practices, methods and techniques
necessary to enable work to be safely performed on a variety of different types
of roofs.
- An ability to detail and list the equipment, tools and materials
required to undertake safe working on roofs.
- A practical understanding of the safe work practices which must be
employed when undertaking work on roofs.
- An ability to demonstrate practical mastery of the safe work practices
which must be employed when undertaking work on roofs.
- A demonstrated ability to safely perform specified work tasks on a
variety of roof types.

MODULE 4/1: Roof Coverings

- An ability to identify and select roof coverings and insulation
materials suitable for residential buildings.
- An ability to correctly identify roof coverings and insulation
materials suitable for designated roofing tasks.
- A detailed knowledge of regulations, standards and associated codes of
practice applicable to roof coverings (including AS 1562: Design and
Installation of Metal Roofing)
- A detailed knowledge of the installation requirements for roof
coverings and insulation materials and a practical understanding of
installation methods and techniques.
- A comprehensive revision of the requirements for safe work on roofs.
- A demonstrated ability to correctly and safely install roof covering
and insulation materials on actual/simulated residential building roofs.
- A comprehensive revision of protective clothing/equipment requirements
applicable to installation of roof coverings and insulation material.
