Description
To provide learners with the knowledge and skills to safely produce standard
petrographic thin sections to a thickness of 30 microns. Learners will also be
introduced to other products of a thin section laboratory.

Range of Variables
This module may be delivered either on or off-the-job.
Learners require access to a range of petrographic equipment and lithologies.
The module should be delivered over a minimum of 6 days in order to facilitate
integration between theory and practice. The laboratory must conform to
Occupational Health and Safety standards.
