Description
To introduce students to the principles and
practices of systems analysis and design.

To enable students to use various investigative and
analytical tools.

Examination 70% Internal
Assessment 30%

Students must pass the examination.

Where a pass is achieved in the examination, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above.

Otherwise, the overall mark is determined by 100%
weighting for the written paper.

Examination

One two-hour examination paper consisting of:

- 20 objective type questions 0.5 marks
each 10 marks
- 9 short answer type questions 10 marks
each 90 marks

All questions are to be attempted.

Internal Assessment

Written Case Studies (30%)

Case Study 1 (15%)

- Use the fact-finding methods and tools taught to
investigate and analyse a small business system case study.

- Produce written documentation in the form of a report
presenting study undertaken.

Case Study 2 (15%)

- Based upon given analysis of a business system case study
(possibly that undertaken in Case Study 1) use the tools and theory taught to
design an appropriate solution for a small business system.

- Produce written documentation in the form of a report
presenting all aspects of system design undertaken in the study.
