Description
To provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills required
to administer an Human Services Organisation (HSO) including:
- Recognising and establishing the need for an HSO.
- Securing financial resources for an HSO.
- Establishing an HSO to address an established need.
- Marketing the service provided by an HSO.

Range of Variables
A combination of classroom teaching, independent study and group learning
should be used to deliver this module. Groups of no more than six (6) should
be formed to work the assessment methods into an ongoing project of creating
and establishing an hypothetical HSO. This project could then be carried over
to the module Administrative Practice and Theory 002 for which this module is a
pre-requisite.
To be delivered by Lecturers who have extensive experience working in the Human
Services industry, preferably at a management level, and who possess a tertiary
qualification of Associate Diploma/Diploma or higher.
Recognition of Prior Learning:
- Participants are able to apply for total or partial exemption from
this module on the basis of evidence that learning outcomes have been achieved
through study, work or life experiences.
- Any prevailing guidelines for assessment will be adhered to.

A proforma document entitled “Utopia” can be used as a source of fictional
data (or could be adapted to suit various Human Service areas) for the needs
analysis. Each learning outcome is assessed by a separate method although
subsequent methods may build upon preceding assessment.
