this module in English and vice-versa. Learners may complete the module in both
languages. The module primarily emphasises the further development of oral or
signed language skills to consolidate those foundation skills for interpreting
purposes. Emphasis is placed upon the development of speaking skills,
comprehending the language, speech and accent of native speakers of the
language, note-taking skills for interpreting purposes comprehending and
generating idiomatically correct language and encouraging wider reading of
appropriate materials. It is entirely appropriate that some instruction and
learning may be on an individualised basis whereby learners work on their
individual language weaknesses. It may be appropriate that some of this
learning occurs outside a formal classroom situation. Some emphasis may be
placed on the consolidation of written language skills.
