Description
To enable students to develop familiarity with the
Local Government Act and the ability to
systematically research the Act under time pressure
constraints and to discover provisions relevant to
the problem under consideration.
To enable students to develop a knowledge of real
principles and concepts gained from legal precedent
and statues studied in this course.
To enable students to develop an understanding of
the law sufficient to define, list, explain,
describe, discuss, compare, contrast, distinguish
and illustrate related principles and concepts.
To enable students to develop an ability to apply
principles and concepts thus learned to solving
simulated administrative problems of Local
Government by use of class discussion, lecturer
prepared modules and appropriate assignment
materials.

Copies of all Parliamentary Acts used in the course
may be taken into examination rooms and used by
students.
These acts must be unmarked except that the following marks were permitted:
- amendments may be made
- underlining (or highlighting with fluorescent pen) is
permitted
- a cross reference to another section or to another Act may
be made by writing the number of the section, with or without the name of an
act, in the margin alongside any section.
One 2 hour written examination 60%
