Description
To provide apprentices with an understanding of the
Theoretical Principles of Trade Drawing, Trade
Calculations, Fabrication Techniques, Manual Metal
Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding of steel and
metallurgy of steels.

To supplement employer provided practical skills
development in fabrication and welding.

Certificate of Trade Studies (CTS)

To be eligible for the CTS an apprentice must obtain
a pass standard in the CTS percentage for each
stage.

The following formula is used to determine the CTS percent.

CTS % = 0.75 (Welding Theory) + 0.25 (Elective
Theory)
