Description
To enable students to demonstrate a
relevant knowledge of the fundamental
structure of chemical and physical
properties, and the relevant chemical
reactions which they undergo.

To enable students to identify, from
their knowledge of the properties of
the materials, those materials which
are used in the fabrication of specific
prostheses and appliances, and state
the reasons for their selection, then
manipulate variables involved, the
processing characteristics, and
properties of the processed materials.

To enable students to list methods, by
which mechanical and physical
properties are measured.

To enable students to demonstrate a
knowledge of the methods, by which
properties of materials may be altered.

To enable students to develop an
understanding of the transformation
pure metals and alloys undergo during
solidification, working and heat
treatment, and display this
understanding by subsequent utilisation
of metals in the fabrication of dental
prosthesis and appliances.
