To provide learners with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be involved in health promotion activities in their communities. Health promotion forms a vital part of Primary Health Care strategy. It is generally misunderstood and often mistaken for health education. It is therefore important that learners as Aboriginal Primary Health Care workers have a comprehensive understanding of health promotion principles, strategies, action and resources.

Approaches to assessment should be flexible and take into account the diversity in levels of literacy and numeracy of the learners. A holistic approach to assessment is to be taken. Learning outcomes and assessment criteria should be assessed using an integrated approach which covers more than one learning outcome. The following assessment methods are examples of strategies which can be used to assess this module:

- case study and oral or written assignment
- group discussion and written assignment
- oral tutorial
- presentation of project
- compilation of resource file
- short answer questions.
