Description
Students will be given a comprehensive introduction
to the Department of Social Security (DSS) and the
payments for which it is responsible. Eligibility
criteria and characteristics of the full range of
pensions, benefits and allowances paid by DSS will
be considered. An understanding of how DSS operates
will be developed, so students will be able to
assist clients to access DSS and gain their
entitlements. The relationship between DSS payments and poverty issues
will be highlighted.
