Description
To develop basic handtool skills, and a
useable building vocabulary.

To provide the students with a
structured range of training objectives
that accurately relate to the skills of
the industry in which he/she works.

To ensure that each student attains the
prescribed performance standard for
each training unit, and that those
standards equate to the on-site
performance requirement.

To introduce the student to
Occupational Health and Safety issues,
relevant to his/her trade.

To raise the skill level to enable
greater productivity.

Certificate of Trade Studies

To be eligible for this certificate an
apprentice must reach a pass standard
in the certificate for each stage.

However, failure in this stage of the
course may be redeemed by an apprentice
who gains a certificate % of at least
65% in any subsequent annual
examination.

The certificate percentages shall be calculated by the following formula:

Privileged Re-Examination,
Practical Skills Re-Assessment

A privileged re-examination or
practical skills re-assessment may be
granted on the recommendation of a
Board of Review, when the practice
assessment is satisfactory.
