To provide students with:
- a general knowledge of the occurrence of minerals and
fuels (mineral, solid, liquid and gaseous) in W.A.
- a sound appreciation of the relationship between
occurrences and their regional geological setting.
- an understanding of the concepts of metallogenic province
and metallogenic epoch.
- a basic knowledge of mining methods, and of the equipment
and techniques of oil-well drilling and logging.
- an outline of the geology, methods of extraction,
treatment and exploration relevant to all significant producing mineral and
fuel occurrences, and important prospects, in Western Australia.
