To introduce students to force and
stress analysis in Statically
determinate structures such as beams,
trusses and columns.

Examination 70% Internal Assessment 30%

One two-hour examination 70%

A minimum of three laboratory exercises
to be completed based on the major
topics as outlined in the student
objectives, e.g.:

- deflection of beams
- shear of bolts
- torsion.

10% per exercise.

A pass is required in both examination
and laboratory work.

Laboratory assessment may be carried
forward 1 year.
