Description
To familiarise the learner with the terminology used to describe the main
components of the ‘traditional’ single-CPU computer system in its various
guises. The learner will also become familiar with simple measures of a
computer’s speed and capacity.
To enable the learner to describe the function of the various business
sub-systems, the information flow between them and the function and content of
typical business internal and external transaction documents. Learners will
also be able to state the purpose and scope of Decision Support Systems and
Management Information Systems.
To provide the learner with an understanding of the purpose and outcomes of the
different phases of the traditional and two non-traditional models of the
system’s development process used by systems development professionals.
To enable learners to describe typical applications of data communications in
the business, industrial, academic and personal areas.
To enable learners to apply formal procedures to maintain the integrity of an
effective and efficient computer installation.
