Description
To demonstrate a greater practical and theoretical
knowledge of the design and operation of a gating
system and the formulae by which pouring rates may
be calculated.

To better understand the mechanism of solidification
and shrinkage and be able to affect the direction of
solidification of metal in castings.

To determine more equitable systems of risering of
both ferrous and non-ferrous castings and calculate
more efficiently the size of risers to be used.

To demonstrate an improved ability to solve problems
related to castings by the application of improved
technology and a broadbend industry outlook.
