Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required by EAL learners to participate in and respond to complex spoken interactions which include discussion of ideas and opinions with others in study contexts.
The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
- the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). They contribute directly to the achievement of Indicators of competence in Oral Communication at Level 4
and
- the ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) descriptors for Speaking and Listening. They contribute directly to the achievement of ISLPR Speaking 3 / 3+ and Listening 3 / 3+.
This unit applies to EAL learners wishing to develop speaking and listening skills in English in contexts related to further study. The study contexts in which these skills are applied are varied, and can be related to a range of further study, Higher Education or Vocational Education and Training (VET) contexts and fields.
Contexts may include fields in which specialised or technical language is used.
No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
