Description
To provide a framework which integrates and
underpins all aspects of the students' musical
training, viz: performance, theoretical knowledge,
listening, communication and personal commitment.

To assist students to become versatile, confident
participants in a working band.

To provide the opportunity for students to give and
receive constructive feedback in a group situation.

To encourage students to make suggestions and
decisions regarding selection of repertoire and
appropriate arrangements.

Participation includes punctuality, willingness to
modify performance in response to feedback and
constructive appraisal of ensemble performance.

Mid-course test. 10%

Group performance of two pieces of music from the
selected styles.

End-of-course test. 70%

Group performance of three contrasting pieces from
the selected styles.

Assessment of performance to include individual
performance as well as contribution to the style.
