To provide training in the finishing of linen for despatch through effective

Evidence Guide
Assessment is the gathering of evidence of successful performance.
The assessment should focus on the learning outcome not on individual
assessment criteria. Assessment criteria are indicators of successful
performance of the learning outcome.
A holistic approach assessment is desirable, ie. a single assessment instrument
may assess more than one learning outcome. For example, a workplace project
may assess both the planning and execution of a task(s).
Examples of assessment instruments include, but are not restricted to:
- practical demonstration and tests
- observation checklists
- oral questioning
- short answer written tests
- written assignments
- projects
- portfolios
- peer assessment
- simulations.
Results will be expressed as Pass (P) or Not Complete (NC).
The competencies apply to workplace activities associated with finishing
laundry products ready for despatch.
Work may involve individual and team-related activities.
Standards of safety, housekeeping and quality of work are as specified by
machine and equipment manufacturers, regulatory authorities, the workplace and
Australian Standard (AS) 4146.
Laundry or operating procedures can relate to:
- manual handling techniques
- machine operation
- reporting procedures for faults, safety checks, etc.
- classification of product (code, number, tying, wrapping, customer).
Manuals and specifications include chemical specification and storage.
Data recording can relate to keyboard or manual recording applications.
Equipment can refer to:
- pressing equipment
. Trouser topper, trouser legger, dolly, puffer, dry press, steam press,
hand iron, hot-head press, coat press
- tunnel finishing equipment
- feeding equipment
- single or multi roller iron
- folding equipment (including towel folder)
- stacking equipment.
