Description
To provide learners with knowledge, understanding and practical experience to
identify the types if contamination in wool clips and apply the standards
defined by the Code of Practice for the Preparation of Australian Wool Clips.

After completing this module, learners will be able to apply Total Quality
Management procedures to shearing, wool handling and wool pressing.

The learner’s achievement of the purpose of this module can be assessed by:

Practical Test:

- Inspect a shearing shed, identify sources of
contamination, propose ways of preventing
contamination, and record findings on a worksheet. (20%)

Assignment or Written, Oral or Computer-based Test. Based on:

- Causes and effects of contamination and ways
to prevent contamination of the wool clip. (20%)

- Application of the Code of Practice bale descriptions. (10%)

- Strategies for Quality Improvement. (50%)

To achieve these learning outcomes learners will require access to:

- shearing shed
- a range of wools with different forms of contamination.
