Description
To raise the literacy level to the equivalent of Level 3/4 Reading and Writing modules of the CGEA. This module focuses on reading and writing for practical purposes in the context of teacher training.
Range of Variables
Students are expected to work independently as well as part of the group, which caters for differences in literacy levels.

This module is divided into two areas:

"Reading and Writing for Knowledge" and
"Reading and Writing for Practical Purposes:

The learners develop skills in reading and comprehending explanatory or informative texts that may be structurally complex and include abstract ideas.
They also develop the skills to write texts that may be structurally complex and include abstract ideas.

Student will be expected to complete a variety of reading and writing assignments both in the classroom context and at home.

The computer should be used extensively for assignment and practice work.

The learner will be assessed on a regular basis according to the output of completed assignments. Students will gain experience in writing a text through regular practice and feedback.
