Description
To provide the skills required of the pattern maker to cut patterns for
advanced/creative styling to standards acceptable by industry.

To equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to construct
patterns for advanced styling, with the emphasis on the flat pattern cutting
method.

To improve skills and knowledge required in the areas of grading, pattern
engineering, fabric estimation and garment costing.

The student shall be assessed on:

-Designing of a co-ordinated range of garments which require advanced pattern
cutting techniques 10%

-Construction of patterns for two complete outfits from the above range with
the emphasis on the flat pattern cutting method (2 x 10
marks) 20%

-Production of one of the above garments in a fabric suitable to the
design 20%

-Construction of three patterns to specified designs which require advanced
pattern cutting techniques (3 x 10 marks) 30%
