Description
To continue to extend the range of equipment that the pre-apprentice can
competently and safely operate particularly with reference to pre-start
operations, operating and servicing a minimum of eight (8) of the machines and
equipment listed (including a tractor), in Appendix 1.
Range of Variables
Delivery will take place in a workshop/classroom or field area on the campus or
on excursions to suitable workplaces.

Learners will need access to not less than eight (8) of the machines listed in
Appendix 1. The machines need to be kept in good order in a suitable storage
facility for the learners to practice their skills.

Learners will need access to the tools and materials necessary for cleaning,
servicing and adjusting the machinery listed.

To allow credible competency-based training and assessment the class size MUST
NOT exceed fifteen students.

This module is to be assessed internally using competence as a measure of
student achievement.

The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.

Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:

- Short oral explanations of procedures
- Longer written and/or oral tests
- Practical demonstration of the skills required for a selection of
machinery at a satisfactory level of competency
- Record books kept neatly and accurately.
