To provide apprentices with an understanding of the
Theoretical Principles of Trade Drawing, Trade
Calculations, Fabrication Techniques, Manual Metal
Arc Welding and Oxygen/Acetylene Welding on ferrous

Certificate of Trade Studies (CTS)
To be eligible for the CTS an apprentice must obtain
a pass standard in the CTS percentage for each
stage.
The following formula is used to determine the CTS percent.
CTS % = 0.3 (Fabrication Theory) + 0.35 (Drawing) +
0.35 (Welding Theory)
