To provide students with study material, to further
their knowledge in specialised areas.
To encourage students to gain knowledge in areas of
the industry, in which they have not previously
experienced.
To apply previously studied material to a wider application.

All practical exercises shall have standards given. If these standards are not
expressed in S.P.O.'s, they will be found in the standard plans and
specifications provided for each exercise.

conjunction with this syllabus.

Each subject component - Theory, Calculations,
Drawing.
Notebook and Practical Skills - to be assessed on exercises set-out in the
projects' workbook, and marked out of 100.
Subject awarded marks for each component, will be
calculated by the formula:
Total of Component Marks Awarded
Number of Projects Elected
Certificate of Trade Studies Subject Awarded
Marks
Composite Theory Mark will be calculated, using the following formulae:
Day and Block Release: Theory x 0.3 + Calculations x
0.3 + Drawing x 0.3 + Notebook x 0.1
NOTE: Any student failing more than one of the above
components, must:
- sit a privileged re-examination OR
- re-submit the drawing folio OR
- repeat the block
whichever is considered most appropriate.

Re-Assessment
A privileged re-examination, or practical skills re-assessment, may be granted
on the recommendation of a Board of Review.
