Description
To ensure that the learners are able to perform the duties of an assistant in a
garden centre, florist shop or on-site specialist horticultural outlet.
To ensure that the learners develop correct sales techniques from approach to
close of sale.
To ensure that learners can receive, maintain and display green stock and dry
merchandise as applicable in a safe and efficient way.

Internal Assessment 100%
This subject is to be assessed internally using competence as a measure of
student achievement.
The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:
-short oral explanations of procedures
-longer written and/or oral tests
-practical demonstrations of the skills required
-excursion reports emphasising display methods for a minimum of three relevant
retail outlets
-report on retailing techniques observed as a customer in at least three
different types of retail outlets, preferably not self-service
-excursion questionnaire on various aspects of a retail outlet relevant to the
learner's interest
NOTE: Written assignments are most likely to cover more than one
learning outcome.
