Description
To create an awareness of the importance of sampling
in chemical analysis.

To introduce students to a statistical basis, for
understanding principles of sampling.

To enable students to use statistical analysis, to
evaluate the merits of a sampling procedure.

To introduce ways of minimising sample error and
sample bias, by correct design of sampling
procedures.

To review a wide range of sampling procedures, and to critically evaluate these
with the aim of detecting weak methodology.

To make comparisons of analytical results based on
standard analytical methods, applied to standard
materials.
