Description
To provide learners with:
Module 11: Basic Hand Tools and Equipment
- An ability to wear and correctly use all necessary protective clothing
and equipment.
- A detailed knowledge of hand tool/equipment requirements for nominated
jobs.
- A practical understanding of the serviceability/safety requirements
for hand tools and equipment.
- An ability to correctly select hand tools and equipment (consistent
with the specified needs of the job).
- An ability to check various tools and equipment for safety and
serviceability.
- An ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively to
perform designated tasks.
- An ability to safely locate/store hand tools and equipment when not in
immediate use.
- A demonstrable knowledge of the cleaning, maintenance and storage
requirements of hand tools and equipment.
- An ability to correctly clean, maintain and store hand tools after use.
Module 12: Basic Power Tools and Small Plant
- An ability to correctly select all necessary power tools and small
plant for a specified job.
- An ability to wear and use all necessary protective clothing and
equipment.
- A detailed practical understanding of the safety/serviceability
requirements of power tools and small plant commonly used in building and
construction.
- An ability to undertake checking of power tools and small plant for
safety and serviceability. Demonstrate a knowledge of power tool and power
lead/hose requirements for nominated jobs.
- A detailed knowledge of hazards inherent in the use of power tools and
small plant and the precautions necessary for their use. Check various power
tools and accessories for serviceability and safety (visually).
- An ability to safely and effectively use power tools and small plant
for designated tasks on site.
- A detailed knowledge of the maintenance and storage requirements of
nominated power tools and small plant.
- An ability to correctly clean, maintain and store power tools and
small plant after use.
