Description
To develop the learners' understanding of the principles and practice of teaching Auslan communicatively within the TAFE context, so that they can put them into practice in their own teaching.
Range of Variables
The module must be delivered in workshop mode, allowing plenty of opportunities for practical demonstration and examples suitable for the adult Auslan classroom.
Students must have access to an Auslan 1 class to meet the teaching practice requirements. They should also have the use of a video camera for recording assignments, as well as a video unit to watch the Topic programs.
The student Workbook is also required for both parts of this module.

According to competency-based assessment principles. The learner must demonstrate competence for each learning outcome.
Completion of the 5 assessment tasks which are specified in the Module Workbook either in writing or on video as specified for each task.
The tasks are explained fully on the video and are as follows:
Assignment 1- Analyse communicative activities from Topic 1
(after Learning Outcome 1)
Assignment 2- Analyse the methodology of a sign language
program (after Learning Outcome 8)
Assignment 3- Analyse input in your own teaching (after
Learning Outcome 10)
Assignment 4- Plan, teach and report on two communicative
activities in a content area (after Learning
Outcome 15)
Assignment 5- Write a program for a Unit of Work OR design
two Assessment Forms.
