Evidence Guide
Internal Assessment 100%

Resource File 40%

Compilation and presentation of a comprehensive resource
index file covering all agencies visited within each area
of health, education and welfare and for each specified
client group. The assignment should include a written
explanation covering the design and layout of index, e.g.
how it is to be used, method of updating, why categories
were chosen, problems in devising the index, any
shortcomings of index layout.

Independent Learning Contract 40%

In Human Services 001, the lecturer and student drew up a
formal contract, representing up to 34 hours of
independent learning. The aim of the contract was for
the student to identify a particular area of interest in
the Human Services, and develop and demonstrate a deeper
knowledge of that area. This contract may have involved
field experience or visits.

The contract will specify:

- aims and objectives for the student

- resources to be used

- evidence of achievement of objective (e.g. report and
presentation)

- criteria for evaluation of objectives - (including
dates due)

The contract itself was prepared and signed by both
lecturer and student in first semester, and assessed on a
pass/fail basis.

The evidence of achievement of the independent learning
contract (e.g. a report and presentation) will be
presented in second semester in Human Services 002, and
will be worth 40%.

Presentation 30%

Each student to give a presentation of an issue which has
arisen from either the media or agency visits (or both).
Verbal presentation with handout.

Class Participation 10%

Students should be able to answer questions based on
topics and content of previous lectures and agency
visits.
