Description
To enable learners to use data interpreted from relevant handbooks and other
basic design information in identifying, dimensioning and preparing typical
structural steel drawings using manual drafting and/or computer aided drafting
techniques.

Range of Variables
This module contains learning outcomes that require theory instruction under
standard drawing room conditions and practical instruction. The theory
component will be assessed at the end of the instructional period when learners
are required to sit for a closed book theory test.
The practical component will be assessed by appropriate drawing assignments.
It is necessary to pass individually the practical component and the theory
component to pass the module.
For consolidation, the material in this module should be linked with and
complemented by relevant on-the-job skill practice or other equivalent
experience.
Classroom projects used in the Assessment Method must include the preparation
of structural steel drawings in accordance with accepted practice as outlined
in AS110.501.
Suggested time allocation for each learning outcome including testing:
