Description
To introduce the learners to urban design and planning concepts and issues. It
provides learners with the opportunity to develop skills which will enable them
to prepare planning applications to satisfy local government controls and to
understand the process of contextual design analysis, recycling and
environmental impact assessment.

Range of Variables
-Classroom presentation of materials illustrated by colour transparencies and
overheads on screen/whiteboard in a tutorial environment.
-Discussion of practical examples drawn from current and recent news.
-Site visits to urban design projects, completed and in progress.

Learners will be required to demonstrate achievement of this learning outcome
by assessment of the project submitted and oral questions.
