To provide learners with an ability to:

Module 4: Introduction to Ladders and Work Platforms

- Correctly identify all tools and equipment required for
construction/dismantling of ladders, simple work platforms and limited height
scaffolding.
- Wear and use all necessary protective clothing and equipment.
- Correctly select and check all ladders, scaffolding components and
work platforms prior to commencement of work.
- Safely and correctly assist in the erection of ladders and work
platforms in designated locations.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of requirements with regard to clearance from
overhead power lines and other obstructions.

Module 9: Manual Handling

- An ability to correctly select, maintain and use tools, equipment,
protective clothing etc in the workplace.
- A detailed practical knowledge of manual handling techniques and
methods. A knowledge of hazards associated with manual handling and methods
used to eliminate there hazards.
- An ability to recognise and correctly select construction materials as
per instructions and/or specifications.
- A knowledge of material types and uses.
- An ability to select materials for specified uses.
- An ability to apply appropriate handling methods for various materials.
- A knowledge of material characteristics.
- An ability to store, stack and protect materials to prevent
deterioration or damage and enable easy retrieval and identification.
- A knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements applicable
to storage.
- An ability to store materials in compliance with OH&S requirements.
- An ability to store/stack and band materials for mechanical handling.
- An ability to safely and correctly assist with mechanical handling of
materials.
- A demonstrated ability to ensure cleanliness of site on completion of
work.

Module 14: Limited Height Scaffolding (Incorporating Ladders and Work Platforms)

- Correctly select all tools and equipment required for
construction/dismantling of ladders, simple work platforms and limited height
scaffolding.
- Wear and use all necessary protective clothing and equipment.
- Correctly select and check all ladders, scaffolding components and
work platforms prior to commencement of work.
- Safely and correctly erect ladders and work platforms in designated
locations.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of requirements with regard to clearance from
overhead power lines and other obstructions.
- Ensure adequate clearance from overhead powerlines and other
obstructions.
- Demonstrate an ability to safely ascend, descend and work from ladders
and work platforms.
- Correctly and safely lower/dismantle, maintain and store ladders and
work platforms.
