Description
To provide students with the opportunity of gaining broad
understanding of health issues and health problems which
concern them and their community generally.

To encourage students to develop a healthy lifestyle.

To enable students to identify ways in which they, as
individuals, can contribute towards overcoming
environmental problems.

To provide students with a basic knowledge of anatomy and
physiology.

To provide students with a basic knowledge of the
transmission, prevention and be able to recognise
diseases that commonly affect the community.

To enable students to investigate areas of health which
are of particular interest to them.

Three short tests covering the topics (20% for each test)

Project 30%

Students to research individually, or in small groups, a
health issue of interest to them. A short report and a
talk will be presented. This must include:

- a description of the health problem or issue
- causal and contributing factors.
