Description
To provide the student with an
introductory knowledge of the behaviour
of a variety of engineering materials.

To perform simple tests on these
materials to establish a fundamental
understanding of their mechanical and
physical properties.

To introduce heat-treatment processes,
their effects and applications.

Examination 70% Internal Assessment 30%

One two hour examination 70%

A minimum of three (3) laboratory tests
to be completed and written up in line
with the formal report writing
procedures of the study area. 10% for
each test

Laboratory Assessment may be carried
forward 1 year.

A pass is required in both sections.
