Description
To provide the student with the opportunity to
acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required
to construct an efficient fireplace, flue and
chimney suitable for Western Australian climatic
conditions.
To introduce the student to refractory bricks, the different materials in use
and their limitations, and to be conversant with relevant terms used.
Arches are used as special decorative features to
bridge openings. It is therefore essential for the
student to have a knowledge of the techniques and
skills associated with this kind of work, including
an understanding of setting out, cutting and
building arches.
