To develop skills in the use and maintenance of
surveying and drawing equipment to produce a basic
plan.
To apply the fundamentals of garden design to produce a landscape plan of a
design for a domestic garden.

Progressive topic testing of subject material:
Assignment 1 20%
The student is to conduct a survey of a selected
site recording all information regarding
measurements and levels taken. This information is
then to be transcribed into a plan to show existing
features and landfall. The level bookings are to be
submitted with the plan for marking.
Assignment 2 10%
Area segregation exercise
Assignment 3 20%
Production of a client requirements interview and
site analysis record.
Complete a site analysis using the produced
proformas.
Prepare a concept plan of a site after consultation with a client and the site
analysis has been completed.
Assignment 4 30%
Prepare a detailed landscape plan (from the
information gained in Assignment 3) drawn to scale,
including site measurements, planting key and
symbols key.
