Range of Variables
This module is suitable for either on or off-the-job delivery.
The required environment for sensory analysis can be relatively easily
simulated in a classroom. However, to be sure that the learner has the
opportunity to understand the importance of correct facilities, a minimum of
one visit must be made to professional facilities in industry.
It is recommended that the types of tests likely to be common to local industry
be utilised.
For full-time learners, the module should be scheduled over a minimum of nine
weeks to ensure there is enough time for skill development. The time of
sensory testing is important, taste buds do not perform as well at night; the
best times for running sensory tests is between 10.00am and 10.30am and between
2.00pm and 2.30pm.
One week is the recommended delivery time for block release with 2 to 3 weeks
for completion of assignments.
