To provide apprentices with an understanding of the
Theoretical Principles of Trade Drawing, Trade
Calculations, Fabrication Techniques, Gas Metal Arc
Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on non-ferrous
metals.

To supplement employer provided practical skills development in fabrication and
welding.

Practical Assessment

Average percentage by continuous assessment of all
workshop components.

Certificate of Trade Studies (CTS)

To be eligible for the CTS an apprentice must obtain
a pass standard in the CTS percentage for each
stage.

The following formula is used to determine the CTS percent.

CTS % = 0.4 (Fabrication Theory) + 0.4 (Drawing)
+ 0.2 (Welding Theory).
