Description
Investigate the origins of woven
fabric. Acquaint the student with ancient weaving methods and materials
by exploring primitive techniques still used by African, American and Asian
people. Recognise fabric designs by tracing the development of patterned cloth
in conjunction with the evolution of the loom in Europe and Asia. Assess the
impact of the Industrial Revolution on weaving and evaluate the role of the
weaver in society before and after the revolution. Identify Peruvian, Coptic,
Gothic and Classic Tapestries.
