Description
To provide the learner with practical work experience in the care of animals.
Range of Variables
This module involves work in an animal care facility. Delivery will be
on-the-job and skills may be assessed by independent assessors or employers.
Learners are required to complete at least 72 hours work in an animal care
facility.
Learners should work with one group of animals selected from the following list:
- Birds
- Vet Practice
- Pigs
- Wildlife/Zoo
- Goats
- Sheep/Cattle
- Horses
- Grooming facility
- Dogs/Cats
- Rabbits/Rodents
- Fish
- Others by arrangement.
Learners are required to select a different group of animals from those
selected in Work Practice A and this module should be conducted at a different
facility.
The facility should keep or handle animals as a major activity. Pet or hobby
activities are not suitable.
Lecturer supervision of 72 hours includes visits to the learner’s workplace to
assist employers with
